The deets on Duke:
Nickname: Pig
Age: 5 years old
Tell us how Duke came into your life.
Well, I was actually in the market for an English bulldog when a friend told me about a family he knew that had just had a litter of pug puppies. I wasn’t interested because I always thought pugs were the weirdest looking dogs, but my friend convinced me to go look at the puppies and by the time I made it there, Duke was the last one left in the litter. Five years later, he’s still my little guy.
What are Duke’s go-to haunts in NYC?
His favorite ’hood is the West Village. We go to the bagel shop on Saturday mornings and he barks at me until I give him a little piece of my bagel. He usually gets cream cheese all over his mouth and spends the next five or so minutes licking it off, which cracks me up. After our bagel routine, we usually head to the dog park in Washington Square, where he’s quite a popular little guy.
What’s the best thing about having your pooch?
No matter how my day is, I just look at him and he makes me laugh. He has this really funny and weird-looking face that only a father could love. My favorite is when his top lip gets stuck on his bottom teeth and he looks like a little bulldog.
What are Duke’s splurge foods?
Bacon and eggs.
If Duke had a human voice, whose would it sound like?
Justin Bieber.
